William Anthony Nugent, 13th Earl of Westmeath, born at Flowerhill House, Tynagh, County Galway, 21 November 1928, is an Anglo-Irish peer and a former soldier and schoolmaster. Nugent was educated at Marlborough College, Wiltshire, and at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He served in the Royal Artillery as a Captain, retiring in 1961.〔''Tynagh Millennium Review'' (Tynagh & District Development Society Ltd., 2000) (pp. 42–45)〕 He was subsequently employed as a schoolmaster at St Andrew's School, Pangbourne, from 1961 to 1988.〔Patrick W. Master, St Andrew's Sch., Pangbourne".〕 He succeeded to his father's titles on the latter's death in 1971.
